Innsbruck: the First Prize and the Audience Prize

August 2010. “Ein Stück vom Glück”, or “The Piece of Happiness” – under this heading the 34th Innsbruck Festival of Early Music took place. The programme of the Festival included Italian renaissance and baroque period music. Soprano Anna Gorbachyova won the Audience Prize and the First Prize at the First International Singing Competition for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti, which took place as a part of the Festival.

“Total success! – wrote the newspaper “Wiener Zeitung”, – 25 year old Siberian born soprano Anna Gorbachyova became a well deserved winner. Her full tone and expansive range, clear coloratura and ability to do stylistically correct diminuendo    helped her to win also the Audience Prize”.

Printausgabe vom Mittwoch, 18. August 2010)

This victory of the Russian Baroque beauty – as Anna was called by the site rt.com – is particularly pleasing as the Audience and Jury were in full agreement which is rather rare.

Anna’s victory at the Cesti Competition was widely discussed in leading mass media both in Austria and Russia.
