Christophe Rousset and Anna Gorbachyova at the Patriarch’s Palace

October 2010. The review with the above title appeared a day after the concert which was  part of the project “Four Centuries of French Music”  at the Patriarch’s Palace of Kremlin. The programme of the concert consisted of fragments from four different operas by Jean-Philippe Rameau and was prepared together by Moscow orchestra Pratum integrum and famous French conductor and harpsichordist Christophe Rousset.

“It was his idea to invite as a soloist the young singer Anna Gorbachyova, who recently became a mysterious winner of the prestigious International Competition for Baroque Opera Antonio Cesti in Innsbruck, Austria. A successful Baroque singer with a Russian surname is almost an oxymoron. Even with Baroque music getting more and more fashionable in Russia we still think that a Baroque singer is the one who simply doesn’t have enough voice for Verdi. Gorbachyova is a totally different case…” writes Ekaterina Biriukova in her review.
